(5 minutes) Product - Responding to Feedback

Transition: Explain how the curriculum team is always responding to feedback and we have talked about that this week but we are lucky enough to have an amazing product team that also improves our products in response to feedback. Share an example of how we have responded to feedback in the past.

Assessment Intro (15 minutes)

(5 minutes) Stand Up Sit Down: Assessment

Goal: To highlight the many different ways schools grade and assess student learning.

Stand Up If Your School:

  • Grades with letters (A,B,C)
  • Uses standards based grades
  • Requires you to give tests as assessment
  • Requires you to give projects as assessment
  • Requires you to put a certain number of grades in the grade book per week
  • Has no requirements about how many grades or what type
  • Has certain class that grade with pass fail instead of letters
  • Can't put a zero in the grade book.

Remarks

Why did we do this?: We can’t really give a clear answer for how schools should grade their students since their are too many different system and requirements. Instead we offer places for assessment of student learning to happen and teachers much decide on grades.
