Closing Ceremonies (27 minutes)
The following is an outline for what a closing ceremony might look like. Many regions have their own traditions and ways of closing out the week. Facilitators should use this time in whatever way they feel best celebrates the accomplishments of their cohort. Reach out to the Code.org facilitator community if you are looking for ideas. Many regions have gotten very creative!
(10 minutes) Final Reflection
- Close out the workshop with a closing speech to thank participants for their time and energy.
- One nice way to allow everyone to share, but still keep it scoped, is to ask each person to summarize the week in three words. It can be a 3-word sentence or just 3 words in general.
- Make sure to summarize your experience and invite your co-facilitator to participate in this reflection as well.
(8 minutes) Graduation
Have a ‘graduation’ for each teaching group
- Say something nice/clap for each teaching group
- Give out certificates (dependent on your regions’ ability to print)
(5 minutes) Awards
Give out team awards
- NOTE: Team awards could just be the gif on a slide, or you could actually give something out here
(2 minutes) Group Picture
Screenshot the gallery/thumbnail view in your video conferencing software to get a photo of everyone.
(2 minutes) Next Steps
