- (5 minutes) Share: share and discuss with the whole group
(5 minutes) Curriculum as a Service
Remarks
Let’s take a minute to look at the value of Curriculum as a Service. Code.org values using feedback to respond to and support teachers.
Facilitator:
- Share an example of a time where you have sent feedback to Code.org and received a response.
- The facilitator shows the participants how to report a bug from both Code Studio and individual lesson plans.
- After showing participants how to send feedback directly to Code.org, remind participants the forum is another place to get support from the Code.org community. This is a good place to go if you are having a difficult time helping a student debug their code.
Tools (25 minutes)
Facilitator Tip
Support resources for setting up a class section are provided in the slides.
(15 minutes) Setup Class Sections
Facilitator Instructions:
- Demonstrate the process of setting up a class section in Code Studio
- Give participants time to set up their own class sections
Producer Tip
Break into the same table groups of 3-4 as during the previous table discussion.
(1 minute) Planning Your Year
Remarks
Now that you have seen what the course offers, pull out your Curriculum Guide and turn to page 52: Intended Implementation Options. We are going to break you back into groups to talk about what units you plan to teach this year. Remember that your year may look very different from your group members. You may have your students every day for a year, or every other day for 35 minutes, or maybe just six weeks. We want you to talk to one another and consider what the important takeaways for your students will be as you plan your year.
