2021 CS Principles In-Person Summer Workshop

Lesson 1: Welcome to the Workshop!
Resources Preparation

For the Teachers

Room Setup:

  • Introduction Posters, including:
    • map of the USA or state (if everyone is from one state) that everyone can put a post it on to say where they are from
    • graph number of years of teaching experience
    • graph of number of years of computer science experience (any kind)
  • Poster for Question Parking Lot
  • Post-it notes and markers on each table
  • Lay out a CED, Curriculum Guide, and Activity packet for each participant’s seat.
  • Determine how you want to describe the norms using the Facilitator Resource called "Code.org's Professional Learning Norms"

    • Planning guiding questions to help participants think about those key things.
    • Understanding what should be modeled in the lesson based on the guidelines in the Activity Packet.
  • Build a check-in schedule that makes each facilitator responsible for checking in with the same 4 groups. It’s good to see the same people multiple times, which is easier if you’re splitting the room.
