Teaching Tip
There are many ways to close out the workshop and acknowledge the time people have spent together. Some facilitators do a “graduation ceremony” where they build hats and give a speech of some type. Other facilitators give out “awards” to individuals and teaching groups. Feel free to solicit other ideas in Slack or the Facilitator Forum.
(8 minutes) Clean out the Question Parking Lot
- Make sure you have addressed everything in the Question Parking Lot. If there isn’t time to address everything out loud, add some answers in the shared slides.
(10 minutes) Final reflection
- Close out the workshop with a closing speech to thank participants for their time and energy.
- One nice way to allow everyone share, but still keep it scoped, is to ask each person to summarize the week in three words. It can be a 3 word sentence or just 3 words in general.
- Make sure to summarize your experience and invite your co-facilitator to participate as well in this reflection.
(2 minutes) Group Photo
Screenshot the gallery/thumbnail view in your video conferencing software to get a photo of everyone.
(2 minutes) Housekeeping
- Remind participants when the next workshop is and when they will receive updates with information.
- Explain that they will have one final asynchronous session, if they choose. This is a block of time that they can use to work on anything from the week that they would like a little
Final Survey (8 minutes)
- Have participants complete the workshop final survey.
