Welcome and Housekeeping (7 minutes)
Producer Tip
As people join, welcome them. If possible, test their audio/video quickly just by having them say “hi.” Enter links to attendance and the day’s slides in the chat frequently as people join so they can complete the activity.
Producer Tip
Verify that you have all the TLO information from the groups presenting today. If you have any questions or did not receive the information, make sure you get the information as people join.
(0 minutes) Housekeeping
Have everyone complete the attendance for the module.
- There will be a specific link for the module at your workshop.
- Check that everyone is marked as present in the online workshop dashboard.
(2 minutes) Review agenda for the day
- Review norms from day one
- The theme for today is “Understanding Responsibility”
- Agenda
- Today we will be focusing on Unit 2
- We will see three lessons from Unit 2 in TLOs
Facilitator Tip
- Prepare for Gots and Needs ahead of time by using color highlighting to identify patterns, including common tech issues, that you want to point out to participants.
- When reviewing the Gots and Needs, consider when you will cover the questions naturally (given the agenda for the workshop).
- If possible/needed, make one change based on the feedback and explain that to participants. We want them to know that we do act on feedback. One way to show them that is to act on one piece of feedback on the first day.
(5 minutes) Gots and Needs
Describe how you, the facilitator use gots and needs and survey results.
Share themes from gots, needs, and survey with participants.
Address any gots and needs you can cover quickly.
Engagement Activity (3 minutes)
Teaching Tip
This is an example of an engagement activity you can do. You are free to choose a different one if you see fit
Producer Tip
Use the Gallery view feature that will allow you to see everyone on the call. The number of participants you can display in one page of Gallery view will depend on the size of your computer screen. Any thumbnails that don’t fit will be on subsequent pages that you can quickly scroll to. * Modification: If the video conferencing software you are using does not have a visual feature similar to Gallery view, use the text-based Chat feature.
(3 minutes) Check-In: Fist-to-Five
Take a quick temperature of the “room” with a “fist-to-five” activity.
- Explain that you want to do a quick check-in to see how people are feeling after Modules 1 and 2 and as you prepare to kick off Module 3.
- Describe how “fist-to-five” works (below).
- Say 1, 2, 3.
- Everyone flashes their number 0-5.
- Scan the screen for highs and lows.
- Ask for the why behind a number.
