Session 58: AP Scavenger Hunt
45 minutes
discussion-based
Purpose
Note: This section is included for AP teachers specifically. For non-AP teachers, it may still be beneficial for them to see the resources available on the AP platform if they decide to teach the course as an AP in the future.
For those who are not interested in looking at the College Board resources, consider this as a time for them to dig deeper into assessment in CSP. Encourage them to plan their assessment approach with more detail and practice taking a multiple choice assessment themselves.
Objectives
- Participants can explain the role of the pre-approved provider syllabus and how to submit it for course authorization.
- Participants will review the College Board specific Curricular and Resource Requirements found on the Course Audit page for the course.
- Participants know where we have integrated AP Classroom resources, specifically the practice questions, personal progress checks and use of the question bank into your curriculum.
- Participants know how the curriculum addresses a pairing of content and skill in your curriculum and resources and then how that same pairing of content and skill aligns to the AP assessment and all other resources.
- Participants are aware of the appropriate use of AP Classroom resources, in particular personal progress checks and performance dashboard, practice exam, AP Central resources, AP Teacher community, AP classroom
- Participants are aware of the availability and location of the following resources: practice exam, AP Central resources, AP Teacher Community, AP Classroom.

Introduce the Scavenger Hunt and Other Options (2 minutes)
Facilitator Tip
Some portions of the Scavenger Hunt activities were part of pre-work but were included here as well in case participants did not have time to engage in the pre-work.
One of these items was to submit the course audit. If a participant has not submitted the course audit, they can do so by following these directions.
(2 minutes) Introduction
Remarks
At this point, we are going to break the room up into two groups. If you are teaching the course as an AP course, you are going to do a Scavenger Hunt in AP Classroom - the online resource you have access to as an AP teacher. If you are not doing the course as an AP course, you are welcome to follow along with the group if you plan on teaching it as an AP in the future. Alternatively, we recommend you use this time to practice taking some of the multiple choice assessments in Code Studio and adding more detail, maybe even making some of your assessments for the upcoming school year.
If you are an AP teacher, turn to page 7 in your Activity Packet to begin the Scavenger Hunt.
Facilitator Tip
Use this as time to check in with participants. Help them find a way to make good use of their time. If they are not an AP teacher, now would be a good time to ask them “what concerns do you have about teaching this course?”. Use their answer to help guide them to something that will help them make good use of this time.
Engage in the Scavenger Hunt (43 minutes)
Support participants in completing the Scavenger Hunt.
Remarks
It can be overwhelming to use all of these resources your first year, but it is important to know what is available. Our hope is that by taking time to explore these resources today, you can refer back to the scavenger hunt in the future when you are looking for a specific resource.
