Remarks
Thank you for engaging with the discussions and activities throughout the workshop in support of implementing and teaching CS Fundamentals equitably to all of your students.
(2 minutes) On-going Learning
Share with participants the on-going learning and support that is available after today’s workshop.
- Next steps in CS Fundamentals Professional Learning experiences
- Deep Dive Workshops: Dive deeper into CS teaching and learning practices, lesson planning, and equity in CS.
- Optional Self-Paced Online PD: Free course to dive deeper into the CS Fundamentals Curriculum and review CS teaching practices.
- Add any local information regarding CS education efforts and organizations.
(4 minutes) One…
(2 minutes) Participants choose one prompt to individually reflect on. Note: For prompt C, remind participants about the questions they initially had about the definitions for access, inclusion, and diversity during the Focus on Equity session.
- Participants write one response on a “sticky note” provided on designated slides.
- Prompts:
- What is one…
- idea you have learned during the workshop?
- action you will take to support equitable CS because of the workshop?
- answer you have for questions you asked about access, inclusion, and diversity in CS?
- word or a phrase to describe how you're feeling at the end of the workshop?
- What is one…
(2 minutes) Summarize any common themes or trends that surfaced in the responses. Invite a few participants to clarify responses as needed.
(4 minutes) Who should teach CS?
Facilitator Tip
The intent is for participants to self-identify as someone who should teach CS with a variety of reasons as to why, instead of engaging in a discussion. Ideal example response, “Me! Because I have a curriculum, strategies, and resources.”
Share with participants to think back at the start of the workshop when the prompt was first introduced.
- Invite a few participants to respond to the prompt.
- Prompt: When you think of who should teach CS, who do you think of? Why?
General Wrap Up (12 minutes)
(5 minutes) Question Parking Lot
Facilitator Tip
When answering questions, try to also connect participants with resources that they can use beyond the workshop (forum, group notes doc, lesson plans, local CS information, etc).
Answer any remaining questions in the question parking lot.
(7 minutes) Survey
- Follow the instructions found in the Facilitator Tools Guide.
- On the online workshop dashboard find your workshop and close the workshop during the closing of the workshop. Closing the workshop will send an end-of-workshop survey to all participants attending.

- What feedback was provided?
- Are there any issues, concerns, or suggestions that require follow up?
- If so, who is going to follow up?
