Purpose
The purpose of this session is to welcome participants, set norms for the day, and share an overview of the workshop. This session also serves as an opportunity for participants to ask questions they have coming into the workshop that will be addressed throughout the sessions.

Welcome to the CS Fundamentals Deep Dive Workshop! Thank you for your continued work in support of equitable CS education.
The workshop goals of today are to: Develop a deeper understanding of the curriculum and how it supports inclusive learning environments. Develop a deeper understanding of CS teaching practices that support teaching CS Fundamentals equitably.
(1 minute) Facilitator Introduction
Introduce yourself to participants and share your background.
(1 minute) Logistics
Remind participants about logistics such as:
- Sitting with others who teach the same grade or grade band
- Location of restrooms, food items, parking lot instruction (if any)
- Location of Question Parking Lot poster to use throughout the workshop and when questions will be addressed (i.e. throughout the workshop, at the end, etc)
- Supplies available throughout the workshop
- Reminder about attendance

Invite participants to introduce themselves to the whole group and share the grade level they work with and their role at their school.

Remarks
We all are here for likely different reasons. Some of you have never taught CS before, and maybe others of you are looking to learn about more tools to bring to your classroom to teach CS. However, we are all here as a community of people who are looking to learn. To support that learning, we want to propose the following norms for our community.

Let’s begin with a check-in to share where we are in implementing and teaching CS Fundamentals as well as share questions you may be coming to the workshop with.
- (2 minutes) Participants reflect on how they are feeling about implementing and teaching CS Fundamentals courses.
- (1 minute) Participants write questions about implementing and teaching CS Fundamentals and add it to the “Question Parking Lot” poster.
- (1 minute) Participants write their response to the prompt on a sticky note and add it to the “Check-in” poster.
- Prompt: Write or draw an emoji, word, or phrase that describes your feelings about how implementing or teaching CS Fundamentals is going for you so far.

Throughout the workshop, I want to invite you to consider how your experience today might continue to shape how you see yourself as a CS teacher and what that will mean for your students and how you approach implementing and teaching CS Fundamentals, equitably.

While participants are engaged in sharing responses to the prompts with others at their tables sort sticky notes on each poster into categories.
Poster - Question Parking Lot: sort questions into categories to share with participants when their questions will be addressed.
- Examples of categories: types of questions (when, where); most commonly asked questions.
Poster - Check-in: sort images, words, and phrases to summarize for participants how people are mostly feeling about implementing and teaching CS Fundamentals courses.
- Examples of categories: most commonly shared images, words, or phrases; related images, words or phrases
Participants share and discuss their response to the prompt with others at their table.

Discussion Goal
The goal of this discussion is to support participants in reflecting how they see themselves and/or their experiences with implementing and teaching CS Fundamentals may have affected any of the following:
- how often they teach CS and to which students
- how much time they spend planning CS Fundamentals lessons
- working towards equity in CS -
- making CS accessible to all of their students
- advocating for diversity (race, gender, ability) in CS
- establishing inclusive CS Fundamentals lessons
Invite participants to share their responses to the Table Talk prompt with the whole group.
